BALVENIE CASTLE
Balvenie Castle
Located in the Moray countryside in the northern part of Scotland and built in the 13th century for the Buchan Earls, the Balvenie Castle holds significant historical value. The name "Balvenie" derives from a Scottish term that means "village of luck." However, the castle's luck eventually ran out, leading it to stand as a picturesque ruin today.
Balvenie Castle ranks among Scotland's oldest stone castles. In keeping with Scottish tradition, the castle is of course rumoured to be haunted, but with a unique twist. Instead of the usual ghostly apparitions, two horses are said to roam the castle ruins.
When visiting Balvenie Castle, be sure to keep an eye out for these spectral equines. Beware, as they might be galloping through the castle ruins, so watch your step to avoid being inadvertently run over!
