SCOTTISH BEACHES

Top 5 beaches in the North West Highlands

Question: "I love walking on sandy beaches for miles into the sunset. Any recommendations in the Northern Highlands?"

Absolutely! The Highlands aren't just about mountains. They boast some of the UK's most stunning beaches, often compared to the Caribbean for their soft white sands stretching for miles. 🏖️ (OK, the water and air might be a tad chillier, but a cosy jumper sorts that out!)

Here are my Top 5 favourites in the North West Highlands (the North East deserves its own post!):

1️⃣ Balnakeil Beach: Endless white sands backed by dunes, where a young John Lennon spent childhood holidays. Perfect for a peaceful stroll and some sunny contemplation. ✨

2️⃣ Achmelvich Beach: Turquoise waters and pristine sands create a picture-perfect paradise. Explore the rock pools at low tide or simply relax and soak up the scenery. 🐚

3️⃣ Ceannabeinne Beach: Remote and wild, this beach is a haven for wildlife. Keep an eye out for seals, dolphins, and even the occasional whale! 🐬

4️⃣ Sango Sands: A camper’s and surfer's paradise with consistent waves and stunning sunsets. Even if you're not catching waves, it's a great spot for a beach walk and wildlife watching. 🏄‍♀️

5️⃣ Gruinard Beach: Once off-limits due to anthrax testing, this beach is now safe and offers a unique blend of history and natural beauty. Explore the dunes and keep an eye out for seals! 🦭
