This Aberdeenshire beauty gets its unique colour from a special harling technique using crushed granite. But: it wasn't always pink - it was originally an off-white colour and got a makeover in the 1820s! The Forbes laird wanted the castle pink to match the granite mouldings.
Located just 40 minutes west of Aberdeen, near the stunning Cairngorm Highlands, Craigievar's grounds are open all day and FREE to explore (parking fees apply).
