When Ribeirinha Trembled
Faial Island is a beautiful place but a powerful earthquake struck in 1998. The earthquake caused a lot of damage, especially in Ribeirinha.
The aftermath was collapsed houses and ruined landmarks like the church and lighthouse.
But the resilient people of Faial Island didn't give up. They rebuilt their lives and community after the earthquake. However, the ruins still stand as a reminder of the ever present seismic activity.
